5 Little Known Ways to Discover Your Desires

What do you want?

Crickets.

I have no idea.

As a life coach, I see how people are both haunted and compelled by this question.  They want the answer but have been operating by someone else’s rules for so long that they don’t even know where to begin.

Today I want to guide you to freedom!  To clarity!  To more pleasure!  Read on for 5 tips on how to tune into your desires so you can cultivate clarity and discover a life that lights you up.

Tip 1: Presence

Becoming fully present builds confidence in knowing who you are and what you want at any given moment.  When you take a moment to get out of your head, for example through meditation, you close down the mental chatter and to-do lists and start to notice your desires rise to the surface.  Perhaps it’s a tiny impulse or spark of energy.  Notice that spark because it’s a clue to something deep within you that wants to be seen.

Tip 2: Don’t Attach to an Outcome

Sometimes we attach ourselves to an outcome and cling to the idea of a thing or person we want. We hold on so tightly because we desperately want to control our futures. But the actual way to manifest your desires lies in surrendering and trusting that what you want matters and is making its way to you with every step of inspired action you take.

Tip 3: Communicate Your feelings

Many people are so focused on pleasing others that they often end up suppressing their feelings. Minimizing feelings may also suppress your ability to communicate with words. To break out of this pattern, it’s important to not only believe that your feelings are important but to then practice sharing them with others.  Once you start expressing your desires, you increase the chance that they will be realized.

Tip 4: Connect With Nature

Nature is where abundance lies. It’s where we access peace, wellness, and contentment and can be still to hear the whispers of our intuition. Take time for a walk without your device, be present and notice what’s going on around you. Recite a mantra that empowers you. Walk confidently and take in the beauty around you, like the sun on your face or the wind in your hair. As you connect with nature, you will foster a connection to what you most want.

Tip 5: Focus on YOU

This part is all about self-love. It’s important to ask - How am I treating myself? Notice your self-talk and commit to speaking to yourself like you would a child or best friend. Treat yourself as you want to be treated. Perhaps it’s learning to have boundaries around your time, setting higher standards, treating your body in a loving way, or choosing to take care of your mind with positive affirmations. It might be putting yourself and your dreams first. We cannot take care of anyone else in the best possible way if we first don’t look after ourselves.

Your desires are guiding you!  By listening to the voice buried inside and trusting your gut, you will start to reveal your purpose and passion in life.  And once you arrive there, get ready because the pleasure that is your birthright will accompany every dream and desire you dare to discover.
